Welcome to Gavin House Instructor

Local in the area

Hello, I am Gavin House, a fully qualified Driving Standards Agency approved and vetted driving instructor working within a 25 mile radius of Farnborough in Hampshire.

I provide a clean, friendly, fun and informative environment to show you all the correct procedures for driving in a variety of driving situations.

Also an ex skid-control instructor who worked at Goodwood Motor Circuit near Chichester; I can offer all weather tuition and advice to keep you and your loved ones safe on the road.

The latest learning techniques and a 2016 Ford Fiesta ensure that you receive professional preparation and get you on the road with confidence.

Now a Drive iQ Pro coach, included for free in your normal lessons, you now receive online help, videos, and training about risks that most teenagers wont even get taught with your average instructor.

I offer a 1 stop service where I book your theory and practical tests for you, provide training for the theory test and practical test, and then get you through the Pass Plus scheme (£75 discount offered by Hampshire County Council).

More importantly I focus on attitude. Statistically, 1 in 5 will have a crash in their first year of driving and road crashes are the main cause of death for young people aged 15-24; I aim to redress that.

My Statistics for 2017

  • 41 People started lessons
  • 38 People passed the test
  • 36 People passed the first time
  • 2 People passed the second time
  • 3 Fails
  • 12 People passed with Zero Faults
    That means that I have:
    93% pass rate
    87% pass first time
1 in 3.2 pass with zero faults

Nationally, the average driving instructor gets a zero fault pass every 161 tests,(so 1 every 4 years if they have the same number of students as me).

I got 12 this year so on average I should have got 0.25; I make that 48 times better than your average instructor.

I’m quite pleased with that!

On top of that, completely out of the blue the examiner said today to my student “that’s because you have an exceptional instructor, there are 2 people who are exceptional in Farnborough and the other one doesn’t teach anymore”.

I mean, what? That is blooming amazing to hear. That examiner thinks I am the number one instructor in Farnborough.

Passing first time is great but passing with a good score is more important as it proves you are a good driver. I teach skills taught to the Police and advanced drivers - I think my stats prove that you're getting quality tuition so now you don't even need to take my word for it!

What a great year I’ve had, I love doing this job!

My Reviews

I booked a few refresher lessons with Gavin after not having driven much since passing my test 7 years ago! I would highly recommend him; he has been so calm and patient (and has made me laugh!) whilst teaching me where I am going wrong with my driving and how I can improve. What more could you need!
